Scientists have calculated the age of the Earth through dating both the oldest rocks on the planet and meteorites that have been discovered on Earth's surface (Earth and meteorites formed at the same time when the solar system was forming). They found that Earth is about 4.54 billion years old, according to the National Center for Science Education. So if you ever feel old, think about this fact.

The planet rotates at around 1,000 miles an hour, but although the whopping speed, we don't feel the Earth itself spinning because we are held close to its surface by gravity.
4. Earth isn't perfectly round.
It may look round, but it's actually not so much. The Earth bulges around the equator by an extra 0.3 percent due to how it rotates about its axis.
